Young People’s Chorus of New York City

ABOUT

The Young People's Chorus of New York City's Schools Program brings YPC’s innovative choral curriculum and philosophy to students across New York City public schools. The in-school curriculum is carefully curated by YPC’s artistic team each year to represent New York City’s diverse student population both in terms of repertoire and learning styles. Choristers not only learn a diverse array of musical styles, but learn music through diverse and culturally sustaining practices including movement, improvisation, historical/cultural context, and music literacy. YPC conductors work closely with teachers and school administration to integrate the YPC chorus into the fabric of the school and surrounding community. YPC school choruses frequently perform at school assemblies, graduations, and community functions as representatives of their school and the amazing potential of young people.
